Dream Team : Adrian Williams
Born in Poole I saw my first meeting on Easter Monday 1955 and have been hooked ever since. I now live in deepest Mid Wales and due to business I can only get to one meeting each year, the GP in Cardiff, the best place I have watched speedway. Thank goodness for Sky!

Tony Rickardsson
The most complete speedway rider there has ever been, a team man and a world champion, a rare combination. Who can ever forget Cardiff 2005, the wall of death ride, it was unbelievable to watch.
Malcolm Simmons
'Super Simmo', Poole's first British Champion. Multi World Pairs & Team Champion. In 1976 I remember at Exeter him coming from the back to overtake Scott Autrey in a challenge match and the British Final at Coventry was Simmo at his best.
Ken Middleditch
'Mr Poole' for the 50's and early 60's. Almost unbeatable in the old third and second division days and when Poole finaly made division one he was still a class act. Ken was and is Poole Speedway. I can remember him coming of of retirement for 2 matches in 1962 and still top scoring!
Gote Nordin
For only one season and one match Gote was Poole's number one, but in that short time he became part of Pirate folklore. By winning the Internationale at Wimbledon he became the first Pirate to win a major championship. We all went home very happy!
Gary Havelock
Signed from Eastbourne and became one of the best captains the Pirates have ever had. To see him in the pits, his leadership must have been worth at least five points a match. Redcar's gain is our loss.
Terry Small and Norman Strachan
Both Terry & Norman were what we would call today second strings. I can still recall many matches that were won thanks to them. Norman was always good for one maximum each year.
Mark Loram
For being Poole's first World Champion. Mark was at his best when wearing the skull and crossbones.
It's a shame that there are only 7 places, how can I leave out riders like Brian Crutcher, Tony Lewis, Geoff Mudge, Ross Gilbertson, Ronnie Genz, Bill Andrew, Lars Gunnestad, Steve Schofield, Mike Lee, Neil Middleditch, 'Zorro' and of course my old friend Mike Golding for helping to make the Pirates what they are today.

"Call yourself a Pirates fan and you leave out Geoff Mudge and Pete Smith (my sister would never forgive you!!!). Some great names there but my early years of Pirate worship were dominated by Ross Gilbertson and Bill Andrew. Two great riders whose spectactular riding sent me home each week grinning from ear to ear...."
