Dear SpeedwayPlus, It is ten years ago this month (September, 2001) that I stopped playing at being a speedway rider and my world appeared to change irrevocably. Er, here's another 'poem'... David Walsh.
Many of us appreciate A neat and tidy programme But the ideal seems barely possible These days Through the shaking of hands And failure of pens Names resemble scars Upon the page And our home team, as we'd hoped it would be Is not what we've now come to see Spoiled by an unwelcome guest Who appeared for the money Who blew his first race Bad form marked for posterity In cheap and nasty ink So, the heat numbers have risen Now past four And something else has gone wrong here What's the score again? Because what these figures say doesnt add up at all Could there really have been so many points lost? "Well, I was simply watching the action And the score is of no interest" We'll just stick with 11-9 to them, then Shall we? And to hell with the consequences!
