Brisbane Museum Display
By Tony Webb

I have tried for some time to create a format where people who want to share speedway/short circuit memories can meet up at a neutral location. Arrangements have now been made with Brisbane City Council for Speedway Archives to have a annual" In cabinet display" of memorobilia, photos, programmes posters etc. relating to the lesser known speedway and short circuit tracks around Brisbane. The objective is to promote awareness and document venues such as Arthur Park Woodford, Oxley, Eumundi, Coorparoo, Beenleigh, Kingston, Nudgee etc.

The display is at Sunny bank hills Library. Sunnybank Hills Shopping Town, QLD 4109 from May 1-31.

Although the display is un manned, an invitation is extended to meet me at an arranged time at the display to share your recollections etc. I live 500meters from the library.

Experience gained from recent social get togethers around the Brisbane area has proved that a wealth of information surfaces if we can only meet face to face. Already there is a network of people interested in speedway who meet from time to time to share material.

The internet is a great asset, but often we cannot always put into the printed word what we really want to say and sadly our responses can be out of context. The chance to meet like minded people in a neutral location is a golden one.

We can meet and go for a coffee, or print anything that you have at the nearby copy shop and photo lab.

"This looks an excellent initiative on Tony Webb's part and deserves all success. A pity buses from where I live (South London - joke) don't pass the library. I would love to be there. I am sure many Australians interested in speedway locality who live in the area will give their support to the venture."
