Kiwis in the Overseas Final - 1988
By Tracy Holmes

With David Bargh and Mark Lyndon having been KO'd at the Commonwealth Final, it was up to Mitch Shirra to fly the Silver Fern solo. Mitch dropped just 2 points and finished 2nd to Kelvin Tatum at the Commonwealth round. Now it was off to Coventry for the Overseas Final on July 10. The top 9 going to the Intercontinental Final at Vetlanda on Hiroshima Day.

It was a cold and wet night at Brandon but it did not stop this being 'Mitchion Accomplished' as the lone Kiwi sailed through no sweat. Talking points being the elimination of Neil Evitts and Sam Ermolenko being the only Yank up with the play. It was such a shame that Shawn Moran had only qualified as reserve and there was no reprieve.
