The Internationale 1962
By Tracy Holmes

The event moved to Wimbledon where it would stay until the end and was sponsored by Bristol Cigarettes; 'Today's cigarette is a BRISTOL'.

This is how Al Walworth saw the night for 'Speedway Star',

"The Speedway Internationale was the best meeting of the season without any doubt. The worthy winner was none other than 'Mr Perpetual Motion' Ove Fundin after a run-off with Barry Briggs. Heat 19 which promised to be one of the best races of the night found all four riders diving into the bend together. Bjorn Knutson and Soren Sjosten bit the dust. The latter was excluded for receiving outside assistance. Peter Craven's back wheel had been touched in the tussle, leaving Ove Fundin to win unchallenged. Bjorn protested to the referee because of the non stoppage of the race. Arthur Humphrey would have none of it!"

Two in a row for World Champion Fundin the Fox while for Briggo, it was close but no Bristol Cigar. The only other Kiwi, Ronnie Moore was smoking alright, just not so much on the track. Peter Craven is again on the podium, if there was a podium?
