This article was first published in June 2001

Who ?
Veteran performer currently turning out for Conference League Boston.

Veteran eh, How old is he ?
He'll be 46 in December (2001).

So he's been riding a long time then ?
He started his career with Berwick in 1973 but he didn't ride at all between 1986 and 1998.

What was he doing in those 'missing' years ?
He was building up his business. He only returned as a bit of a publicity stunt for old club Boston but enjoyed it so much that he's made a full time return.

So he used to race for Boston then ?
Yes, he was a Barracuda, on and off, from 1974 to 1984.

Did he race for anyone else ?
He also rode for Berwick, Edinburgh, Scunthorpe, Mildenhall, Wolves, King's Lynn and Coventry.

Was he any good ?
On his day he was one of the best riders in the National League. Even now he's difficult to beat in the Conference League.

Any family connections with the sport ?
His younger brother Nicky raced in the late Seventies. He never enjoyed any real success.
