Dream Team : Darren William Anslow
Started watching speedway in 1983 at Belle Vue but also went to Halifax, I thought the old Hyde Road track was the best ever, but also loved the banking round at The Shay in Halifax.
I watched every meet at the old stadium, but it's only been intermitent at the new stadium, as I don't like the track.

Andy Smith
He was about the same age as me in 83 when I started following the Aces and he had absolutely no fear. The big wide track suited him as he roared around the outside on his
fast GM motors. I suppose that's why he had so many injuries, It was sad to see him in his later career when that fire had gone.
Erik Gundersen
I was at Bradford in 85 and saw him win the world title in his run off against Ermolenko, but i remember his race before the run off, he had to win and missed the gate
(which was rare) but flew round the outside!! I was also at Bradford the day his career ended and nearly his life!!! It robbed speedway of a superstar both on and off the track.
Kenny Carter
I used to love watching Kenny, he was totally fearless and I hardly ever saw him get beat at Halifax. Even though I'm a Belle Vue fan, I loved watching him take on Morton/Collins at
Hyde Road. I know you can't forget how his life ended and also his wife's, but as a speedway rider he was total entertainment.
Tommy Knudsen
All I remember about him was that he was so smooth and classy on a bike, he made it look so easy. It was just a pity he seemed to have so many injuries.
Joe Screen
A bit like Andy Smith in that his gating let him down, but that's what was so exciting about him. I remember him making his debut as a 16 yr old and I seem to think he beat Jan
Pedersen. Again it was a shame all the injuries took their toll on him.
John Cook
I just loved his style, the complete opposite to the smoothness of Knudsen. Cook was tall with a leg trailing style and even though he wasn't a great rider, I loved watching
him race. A real entertainer.
Hans Nielsen
He just came across as the true professional. I remember he was always at the top of the averages and you just looked at the way he handled everything and you could see why!
He could gate or come from behind when he had to, the original ICE MAN!
