Dream Team : Jim Salt

Cradley fan - first meeting in 1968. Now living in Northern Ireland, so thank heavens for Sky! Looking forward, with fingers crossed, that we will see the Heathens back on track in the not too distant future.

Bernie Persson
No apologies for picking my first hero. When Heathens were a struggling outfit in the early '70's Bernie was a shining light. Still remember how close he was to glory at Wembley in 1972.

Jan O Pedersen
My favourite Heathen of the 80's, pure excitement on a bike.

Erik Gundersen
Simply a legend. Top rider, top bloke.

Sandor Levai
Sandor was always a popular visitor to Dudley Wood and he proved a great signing when he rode for Cradley in the twilight of his career.

Martin Dixon
I was a Plough Lane regular in the 1980's and I remember Mad Dog riding brilliantly for Middlesbrough against Wimbledon one night. I always followed his career after that.

Alan Grahame
Have to have Big Al in, for his contribution to the Heathen cause over the years. The time the rest of the riders presented him with the KO Cup remains one of the greatest memories.

Terry Mussett
A shock selection at Number 7, but "Tiger" Terry just gets it over my current favourite the much underrated Rune Holta. Terry was great entertainment value when in the Red and Yellow.

  • Alan Rogers:

"I have to agree with Jim on his selection of Sandor Levai. Being a Belle Vue regular starting in the sixties I had the great fortune of watching some real tryers and Sandor was allways a real crowd favourite. It was a sad loss when Sandor had to move on but he still performed wherever he rode. A wonderful ambassodor for the sport."
