A Matter of Opinion....Derek Watson....19/05/2002 Derek has been a Glasgow Tigers fan for many years. Glasgow have already lost a home league match - is it time to increase the home advantage by altering the circuit? I don't think track alterations are really possible at Ashfield. The confines of the stadium mean they can't go out the way and with the football pitch in the inside the only place would be widening the bends. That might prove to be a possibility but the track is just too easy to ride.Home advantage would be possible with more gaters in the team but that would be boring!! Who do you consider to be the greatest three riders in the history of the sport and why? Ivan Mauger - voted rider of the millennium, who am I to argue with that ? Erik Gundersen - If it wasn't for that injury he might've surpassed Mauger's record. A lesson to us all in fighting the odds. Steve Lawson - The man they called God. WAS the Tigers during the 80s. Never shown more than at Arena in 1985. 16 points out of a team total of 23 (13 heats).A league record for percentage points scored, which still stands!!! If you could change one rule which would it be? Away points should be increased. 3 for a win, 2 for a draw. I'm not a fan of bonus points but I would retain it with this rule change. Certainly would prove popular with Mr Boocock! Should Grand Prix meetings be staged on temporary tracks? I think temporary tracks are OK but banking would be an idea, although not too sure how they would do it!! As long as "proper tracks" are used about 70% of the time, I see no reason to ditch them. Which Speedway websites would you recommend to our visitors? First one has got to be www.hullvikings.com. Great for LIVE scores and news. You can even put your own match report on it! Next up, www.readingspeedway.com. Plenty here to read and not necessarily if you're a Racers fan. Their discussion page is worth a look and you get some great banter on their live scores update. Throw in plenty other features like news, statistics and some historical stuff and it's well worth a look. Finally, www.aehistory.co.uk. It's the history of Arena Essex and it's always worth a look just to remind you about speedway and it's changes over the last 18 years. Colourful and always interesting, have a look even if you don't support the Hammers.
