Did We Help?
Our 'Can You Help?' page has proved to be a popular addition to the site in recent months. So have our visitors been able to assist those who've asked for help?
John Hyam was looking for information on French speedway in the thirties and forties. Obviously quite an obscure area of research and not one we held out any great hopes for. However John did receive some response and would like to hear again from Pete Gay who got in touch with him, Pete actually rode in France in 1957.
Diane Michie asked about Scottie Michie and Maciej Wegrzyn came up with a short article on his exploits on the continent.
Bob Ferry was looking for a copy of a book and a Sunderland programme from the seventies. He received offers of both from you lot out there - another satisfied customer!
In a similar vein, Mali Halls needed a video of the 1997 German GP to complete his collection. He's now got one!
Tom Marriott wanted names for the riders in the Canadian team picture we included in our Eric Chitty feature. Friends of Reg Fearman were able to name all the riders. Tom also received a good selection of
pictures of Eric Chitty, these were of great value to Tom as he produces the programmes for Paris Speedway in Canada.
Neil Roughton is trying to build a replica of Ole Olsen's 1975 World Final bike. Neil's still collecting parts but has already received help from people in the Southern Track Riders and ABC amateur
speedway clubs. In addition he's received parts and assistance from Ron Jones and Frank Whitby of the' Men in Black' speedway display team,
George Stancl, Nicky Allott, Alan Belham and his brother Kevin. Neil promises to send us pictures of the bike as he builds it up.
